Langford Movers Who Know Master-Planned Streets and Mountain Strata
Langford is the fastest-growing city on Vancouver Island, and most of the new homes are townhouses or condos. So our crews show up with the building paperwork already filed, a route around the Colwood Crawl already mapped, and a plan to clear Bear Mountain gate access before the truck leaves Quadra Street.
Inside the West Shore Boom
A City That Grew 32 Percent in Five Years, Mostly in Townhouses.
Langford was ranked Canada’s third fastest-growing city in the 2021 census. Most of that growth came as townhouses and condos rather than detached homes. So move days here look more like building coordination than driveway logistics. And the Trans-Canada commute shapes every schedule we build.
Master-Planned Townhouse Coordination
More than half of Langford homes are attached townhouses or semi-detached units, most inside strata complexes. So we handle the Certificate of Insurance, the building rules, and the shared-driveway timing as part of the booking. That keeps your neighbours and your building manager on side.
Bear Mountain Gate and Strata Access
Compass Pointe, Cypress Gates, Copper Rock, and the wider Bear Mountain strata complexes each have their own move-in rules. So we pre-arrange gate access, file the paperwork, and route the truck up the switchback roads in daylight. Move days start early on the mountain.
The Colwood Crawl
Trans-Canada Highway between Langford and Victoria carries about 85,000 vehicles a day. Locals call it the Colwood Crawl, and it eats commutes alive between 7 AM and 9 AM and again from 4 PM to 6 PM. So we time every Langford-to-Victoria leg around it.
Our Process
A Move Plan Built for New Construction and Master-Planned Streets.
A Langford move runs on three things working together. First, the building paperwork has to clear before move day. Second, the truck has to navigate newer development streets and Bear Mountain switchbacks. Third, the route has to respect the Colwood Crawl. Here are the five steps that hold all of it together.
Building Paperwork at Booking
Most Langford moves involve a strata complex or a master-planned community with its own rules. So we file the Certificate of Insurance, confirm the move-in window, and lock the loading-bay or driveway access window before you start packing. That holds whether you are in a Westhills townhouse or a Bear Mountain condo.
Pre-Move Walkthrough
We map your inventory against the actual property. Newer Langford homes have generous garages and modern hallways, but Bear Mountain has switchback driveways and Westhills has shared parking. The walkthrough decides the truck size and the staging plan.
Truck Routing Around the Colwood Crawl
If your move crosses into Victoria or Saanich, the Trans-Canada commute matters. So we route around peak hours. If you are staying within Langford, we still time the load and unload windows to keep the truck off Goldstream Avenue at rush hour.
Floor and Wall Protection for New Construction
Most Langford homes are newer builds with engineered hardwood, soft-painted walls, and tile entryways. So we bring runner mats, corner guards, and door-frame protectors sized for the building. Your damage deposit stays your damage deposit.
Building Sign-Off and Final Sweep
Before we leave, we close out the move-in record with the property manager, return any access fobs, and walk the new property with you. So nothing is left in the garage, the parkade, or the storage locker. Then we set the furniture where you want it.

Langford Move Questions
The Questions We Hear From West Shore Movers Most Often.
Can a moving truck handle the switchback driveways at Bear Mountain?
Yes, with the right truck and a walkthrough.
Many Bear Mountain driveways are narrow, sloped, and tight at the turn. So we book a walkthrough before move day and size the truck to the property, not the other way around. If a full-size truck cannot clear the switchback, we use a smaller one and shuttle the load in two runs. That call gets made before the booking is final.
How long does a typical Westhills townhouse move take?
Four to six hours for most three-bedroom townhouses.
A typical Westhills three-bedroom townhouse move runs four to six hours from start to finish. That includes the loading-bay window, the drive, and the unload at the new property. If you are crossing the Colwood Crawl during peak hours, add an hour. We give you a flat travel fee at booking, not a meter that ticks up in traffic.
Does Langford have a truck route bylaw movers need to follow?
Yes, but it only affects three-axle trucks.
Langford’s Streets and Traffic Bylaw requires drivers of trucks with three or more axles to stay on the designated truck route until the route brings them as close to their destination as possible. Most of our moving trucks are two-axle and not subject to the rule. For the larger long-distance trucks, we plan the route to use Millstream Road or the Trans-Canada section approved under the bylaw. Either way, the route is handled before the truck leaves the yard.
How do you avoid the Colwood Crawl on move day?
Schedule the move outside the peak hour windows.
The Trans-Canada Highway between Langford and Victoria carries about 85,000 vehicles a day. Locals know it as the Colwood Crawl, and it backs up sharply between 7 and 9 AM and again from 4 to 6 PM. So we load between 9 and 11 AM and aim to arrive at the destination by mid-afternoon. Weekend moves dodge most of it entirely.
Can You Move Me handle a same-day move from Langford up the Malahat to Duncan or Nanaimo?
Yes, this is one of our regular routes.
The Malahat section of the Trans-Canada Highway starts in Langford and runs up to Duncan, Nanaimo, and beyond. We move households up that route on a same-day basis several times a month. Long-distance pricing stays flat, and the crew loads in Langford, drives over the Malahat, and unloads at the new home. We watch the DriveBC Malahat alerts and shift the schedule if there is a closure.
Do Bear Mountain or Starlight Stadium event days affect move scheduling?
Sometimes, and we check the calendar at booking.
Bear Mountain hosts golf tournaments and mountain-bike races that can lock parts of Skirt Mountain on event days. Starlight Stadium across town runs Rugby Canada match days and Pacific FC home games with road closures around the venue. So we check the event calendars when we book a move within those zones. If a date conflicts, we shift the start time or use a different access route.
